The short performances ‘To the Absent Audience’ are the result of solitary, mental journeys Marie Julia Bollansée made in her studio over the past decade at times that presented themselves. She films them herself and only shares them via the internet with an invisible audience that creates its own experience in the absence of the artist. By now showing a selection of the films simultaneously and in one space, she not only offers museum visitors a special insight into her oeuvre but also immerses them in a sensual overall experience.

De korte performances ‘To the Absent Audience’ zijn het resultaat van solitaire, mentale reizen die Marie Julia Bollansée de afgelopen tien jaar maakte in haar atelier op tijdstippen die zichzelf aandienden. Ze filmt ze eigenhandig en deelt ze enkel via het internet met een onzichtbaar publiek dat in afwezigheid van de kunstenaar een eigen beleving creëert. Door een selectie van de films nu gelijktijdig en in één ruimte te tonen, biedt ze de museumbezoekers niet alleen een bijzonder inzicht in haar oeuvre maar dompelt ze hen ook onder in een zinnenprikkelende totaalervaring.
